What this site is
Charlotte Deck Builder Guide is an independent directory and comparison resource covering 139 deck builder businesses across Greater Charlotte. It exists for homeowners who are trying to figure out which local builder is actually worth calling, without having to read through hundreds of scattered reviews themselves. We also generate enquiries for local providers: when you ask to be matched with someone for your project, we pass your request along to providers relevant to your request and may receive a referral fee for doing so. That referral relationship never touches the scores or the earned rankings you see on this site. Those two functions, independent research and enquiry-routing, are kept deliberately separate.
How listings get built
Every business on this site starts with public information: business registrations, service areas, licensing where it’s listed, and other facts that are a matter of public record. On top of that, we synthesize recent Google reviews to understand how a builder is actually performing with real customers, things like responsiveness, workmanship, and follow-through on punch lists. We do not republish review text. Instead, we summarize the pattern and link out to the source on Google so you can read the original reviews yourself.
How rankings are earned
Rankings come from a published rubric applied consistently to the data we collect, not from anything a business pays us. The full breakdown of factors and weighting is on our methodology page, and it’s the same rubric for every builder in the directory. A listed business can request corrections to its own factual details, like a wrong phone number, an out-of-date address, or an incorrect service area, and we’ll fix it. What a business cannot do is edit its own score, its sentiment summary, or its position in the rankings. Those are calculated from the data, not from a conversation.
Sponsorship, when it appears
Some pages may include sponsored placements. These are always labeled “Sponsored,” displayed in a separate section from the earned rankings, and never allowed to move a business up or down in the actual ranking order. If you see a sponsored listing next to a ranked one, treat them as two different things answering two different questions.

- No. Listing and ranking placement are earned from public data and review analysis, not payment. Sponsored placements, when present, are clearly labeled and kept separate from earned rankings.
- Can a business change its own ranking?
- A business can correct factual details like its address or phone number. It cannot edit its score, sentiment summary, or ranking position, since those come from applying our published rubric to the data.
- How often is the data updated?
- The directory refreshes monthly, and each listing shows a last verified date so you can see when it was last checked.
- What happens if I ask to be matched with a builder?
- Your enquiry is passed to providers relevant to your request, and we may earn a referral fee. This never changes any business's earned ranking or score.
